EL6631 PROFINET RT控制器（主）终端支持完整的实时功能（RT）以及广泛的诊断可能性。支持符合Conformance Class B的所有服务。EL6631上可投影15个PROFINET RT设备。
EL6631-0010 PROFINET RT设备（从）终端实现了EtherCAT和PROFINET RT之间的简单数据交换。它是EtherCAT链中的一个设备，最多可由65535个设备组成。EL6631-0010有一个3端口开关。两个端口通过RJ45插座连接到外部。这允许I/O站被构造为线路拓扑，从而简化了布线。两个设备之间的ZUIDA距离为100米。
诸如LLDP或SNMP之类的协议可以用于网络诊断。
